Susano'o Trial I

Shinomori Katsumi  would find herself doing her daily routine when suddenly she'd be pulled into another vortex. Instead of finding herself in a strange realm, however, she'd find herself in a village where the people are panicking. It seems the nearby dam is about to collapse, and if this happens, water will overrun and destroy the village. It is raining heavily, to make matters worse, and there are several bandits trying to help aid in the destruction of the dam.

Task: You are to ensure that the dam does not get destroyed, and protect the village. You may use all of the abilities and items at your disposal to ensure success, for if you fail you must start the entire trial all over again. Lock your stats in your next post. There are a total of ten bandits for this exercise, and their stats are 30 across. You must also find a way to reinforce the dam before it collapses.

Katsumi had woken up next to Haji, eyes smiling at seeing him sleeping there. Not wanting to disturb him, she quietly got out of bed and put on her armor, figuring she would go out training. But as soon as she stepped out of the door of their room, Katsumi found herself someplace entirely different.

What the fuck?

She found herself in the middle of chaos, instantaneously soaked by an onslaught of rain and villagers running about fretfully and cries filling the air, and she frowned. Quickly removing the armor that made her look like a demon, Katsumi rushed over to one of the villagers, grabbing their arm to stop them.

"Ma'am, what in the world is going on?"

A older woman looked over at the dam fearfully and quickly splurged about the situation. The dam was breaking and a group of bandits were trying to break it down (for who knows what, the stupid bastards!), and the storm was only making matters worse. The woman pulled her arm away and exclaimed that if they didn't leave soon they would all die before running off.

Katsumi's eyes narrowed and her lips formed in a firm, straight line as she turned around and faced the dam in the distance. After having gone through some crazy-ass dungeon and being tested by a god when she didn't even believe in him or anything of that stuff in the first place, Katsumi was made a believer. How could she not be? Katsumi had demon gear and freaking powers!

Suspecting this was another test by who knew what god this time, the woman released a heavy sigh and put on the rest of her gear, demonizing herself. It was obvious what she needed to do, at least it seemed to be. Save the villagers, and to do that she needed to kill the bandits and make sure the dam didn't collapse.

Fantastic...

Running forward, Katsumi used her musou to jump up onto a tree branch nearer to the dam. It appeared that there were ten bandits all working to bring the damn down, and Katsumi removed the bow from her back and took aim at the one nearest to her, firing. She would do the same once more, and fire as quickly and accurately as she could from where she was perched, using her musou to try and manipulate the arrows to help her hit her targets, unless stopped by something.

The bandits never would've seen Katsumi's arrows coming. In fact, she felled four of them before they even knew something was wrong. Their bodies would fall one by one, a couple landing in the river, before the others started to take cover. Two of the bandits hid amongst the rocks by the river, while another two were starting to aim their bows at Katsumi. The other two took sledgehammers, planning on speeding up the destruction of the dam.

Four down. That meant six remained, and they finally caught on to her presence. While it was a little disappointing, it was also about time. Poor, despicable bastards.

Katsumi didn't worry herself about the ones hiding among the rivers for now, narrowing her eyes as two took aim at Kat. With her musou, it seemed almost like a pathetic attempt, and as one, two arrows shot at her, the wind she manipulated caused them to go off course, and then she fired at one of the archers, before gliding to another branch of a closer tree and firing midair at the other.

Focusing on her spiritual energy, Katsumi would manipulate the wind to try and pick up the two men working on the dam, slamming one into the other. Biting down on her bottom lip, she would try to create a whirlwind to create enough force to cause them and some of the nearby rocks to fly around and around, before spitting out the men and, presumably, causing them to crash to their deaths into some trees, or boulders, or pointy rocks, or something equally as hard and dangerous when your face is slammed into it at a very high wind velocity.

The two archers who fired at her would stare dumbstruck as their arrows veered off course, before being pelted and killed by the wind-controlling Katsumi. The two on the dam would also slam into each other, before her wind would practically twirl them around as if they were caught in a mini tornado. The resulting whirlwind would eventually shoot them out, one towards a tree smashing right next to Katsumi, while the other flew straight towards the rocks at the bottom, hitting his head on a sharp rock before the current swept his body away.

The two remaining guys panicked and ran, but before Katsumi could breathe a sigh of relief, they came out holding hostages, with blades to their necks!

Huzzah! She had taken them out and the other two ran, but there unfortunately wasn't any time for celebration. They came back, but this time with hostages.

Katsumi deadpanned a little.

Gliding down from the tree, the woman lifted her hands up as though in surrender. Through the rain, the woman called out, "Please. Don't do anything drastic. How about... we talk and settle this, hm?"

Swallowing roughly, Katsumi focused intensely on her spirit, staring at the bandits so as not to arouse suspicion. But in the background behind them, the air was being manipulated into a whirlwind, rising up any water and causing it to circle. Inhaling deeply, it simply grew stronger and her hair began to whip towards them, and some of the rocks and other dangerous objects flew around.

She widened her eyes and pointed towards them, exclaiming as if shocked, "L-Look out!"

If they would turn around, as the wind would get stronger as the whirlwind neared them (but still remained far enough away so as not to pick them up off of the ground or anything) and they would certainly be able to feel it, Katsumi would use the opening to fire at the available parts of one of the bandits before a rock from the whirlwind would shoot out and hopefully hit the taller of the two in the head or the neck. If need be, she would rush forward if the villagers were safe and finish off the wounded bandits, if need be.

The bandits seemed a little less tense, grinning at what they thought was their success. One of them was ready to move to approach Katsumi, probably ready to try and tie her down, before they turned around at her exclamation. This provided Katsumi with a much needed opening, and she managed to kill one of the bandits. The other was struck in the neck, and was bleeding out, trying to crawl away with the last of his strength.

The villagers just about saved, they would retreat back to the safety of their homes. Her only concern now was the dam.

Going over to the crawling bandit, Katsumi knelt down and decapitated him with the blade of her bow. She warned the others to flee and stood up, turning to the dam. It was still in danger of breaking, and she was soaked to the bone, growing weary. Katsumi sighed.

In annoyance, a gust of wind blew one of the corpses and it was placed at one of the cracks, head filling it. She stared at it for several moments, tilting her head, before she heaved a sigh, corpse falling back onto the ground, and she grumbled "Goddamnit..."

This would not be a simple fix, and there was no way Katsumi could adequately ensure the dam would not collapse on her own. Turning towards the village, Katsumi quickly made her way over there, getting some of their attention. She told them the situation and that the bandits were taken care of, but that the dam needed fixing.

Laying out a plan (PHYSICS!), they gathered the other villagers, got axes and supplies, and quickly made their way towards the breaking dam. They hurriedly began cutting at trees, and when enough was done, Katsumi would use her musou to bring them down. Hours passed, and tree upon tree was rested on top of one another, Katsumi using whirlwinds to stack them on top of each other. When more trees were cut down, the musou brought three up and they were held by ropes by the villagers. Holes had been dug previously, and there was a plan to have trees at forty-five degree angles keeping the other trees in place, already cut and ready to go. But, first, Katsumi brought up the largest tree using a very powerful gust of wind, and ropes were released once it was in place, now the tree held on the dam by the three trees. Helping the others with wind, ends of chopped logs, essentially, were put into the dug holes and helped support the three trees.

By the end, Katsumi was utterly exhausted and collapsed on the muddy ground. Finally, after hours spent, the dam was strongly supported.

Katsumi's plan to get the villagers to help her fortify the dam would be grueling, but it would end a success. The dam would be a lot more durable thanks to the supports, and while it wasn't completely fixed nor permanently in place, the worst was over and the village would not be overrun.

At the completion of her work, the storm would completely subside as if out of nowhere, and the sun would shine down on her. She had single-handedly saved these people from a watery death.

"You have done well, Katsumi..." she would hear a strange voice speak directly into her head, before she was sent back to her own world, waking up in her bed.

Susano'o Trial II

Shinomori Katsumi would find herself doing her daily routine when suddenly she'd be pulled into another vortex. She would find herself in another village, this time riddled with a drought. It would seem the wells have dried up, and nobody knows why. More bandits are terrorizing the townspeople, and they are taking what little the people still have left to give. This village is considerably larger than the last one.

Task: You are to defeat the bandits and save the townspeople, as well as end their drought. You may use all of the abilities and items at your disposal to ensure success, for if you fail you must start the entire trial all over again. Lock your stats in your next post. There are a total of ten bandits for this exercise, and their stats are 35 across.

Why did Katsumi keep waking up in other places besides Haji's side?

The gods really did like fucking with people, didn't they?

Since Katsumi highly suspected this was another trial and she wouldn't be able to leave without completing it, Katsumi began to investigate. It seemed that there was drought, but to make matters worse, bandits were hording any and all supplies of water. In a few days time, the villagers would certainly die if things continued as they were.

Katsumi waited until nightfall, knowing her stealth and armor would help her blend in darkness. Slipping out of one of the huts, Katsumi would climb up onto a roof and make her way towards wherever the main group (if not all of them) were located. Taking aim, Katsumi would fire three times, before using her musou to travel over to another roof at their other side, and fire repeatedly again.

She was determined to take them all out and not be seen, confusing them by changing directions.

Katsumi's hit and hide tactic would work wonders, each arrow seeming to find its target. Her first assault would leave three bandits dead, and her second one would leave even more dead!

The bandits seemed confused, thinking there was an attack going on from all sides! After all, who could possibly move that distance in such a short time? The remaining four bandits would hide behind cover. One of them took a jug of sake and stuffed a rag in it, lighting the rag on fire. He was intent on throwing it to try and smoke their attacker out!

The remaining bandits ran for cover and Katsumi quickly ran along the roofs, jumping from house to house with ease. They could not hide from her.

Landing on the ground behind the men, she would rush up behind one, jumping up to slit his throat with the blade of her bow, before stabbing another in the back quickly afterwards, and using her musou to create a powerful gust of wind to push the other two back. She would then quickly fire at them.

"Bastards, getting what's coming to you," she murmured to herself, dark eyes narrowing sharply.

Katsumi's brutal tactics would prove most effective, slaughtering the rest of the bandits! (Somewhere, a Haji would be going ;^ As she slew the remainder, the one who was holding the fiery jug fell to the ground, catching his own body on fire as it shattered on top of him! Another bandit fell into the nearby well!

All she had to do now was figure out how to provide water to these villagers once more!

(Poor somewhere Haji. This is why she must do these things when away. </3)

Oh, look. A flaming body. But Katsumi wasn't too worried about it, a simple strong gust of wind blowing it out. As the other body fell though, Katsumi ran ahead and used another gust to prevent his body from contaminating the well, dragging it over the edge and onto the ground.

Wiping her brow, the woman glanced down at the well. How much was down there? It didn't sound like very much, and Katsumi turned around and plopped onto the ground. Leaning forward, she scratched her head, fingers tugging at her side-swept bangs, before Katsumi straightened and rested her back against the stone. She stared up at the sky and saw a thin wisp of a cloud from under the moonlight. Clouds...

Wait.

Katsumi blinked and looked further away. There were clouds sparsely spread out and her eyes slowly widened as an idea flickered on and grew brighter.

"Maybe..." she muttered to herself, thumb stroking her chin.

It was worth a shot.

Springing up onto her feet, Katsumi would head out of the village and into the forest. Climbing up one of the tallest trees, she stood at the top and closed her eyes, falling into deep concentration.

Wind picked up, gusts blowing in different directions. They weren't just small ones, but large and strong, and Katsumi's brows knit deeply. She was using all of her spirit to gather as many clouds as she could into one concentrate area: at the village. If this was truly a trial from a god and it wanted her to help the villagers, the god would do the rest.... right?

After creating one giant cloud, Katsumi would exhale loudly and lean against the tree, clinging to it so as not to fall off. Which, admittedly, she was worried about since making the wind blow in different directions and being so precise took a lot out of her.

Susano'o watched from his perch up in the clouds, amused that Katsumi was performing so well. She'd use her wind to start to move the clouds, and while her power wasn't the strongest to do what she had planned, he appreciated her intent.

With a wave of his finger, the clouds would begin to move, congregating into one mass over the village as Katsumi had planned. And with a snap, he would bring rain to these people. He felt no need to drag this trial on, the woman had proven herself.

"You continue to impress, Katsumi. Perhaps I chose well..."

She would hear a voice again before being sent back to her own world, waking up in bed as if nothing happened. But she did feel stronger.

Susano'o Trial III

Shinomori Katsumi would find herself, to no surprise, pulled into a vortex in the middle of the night. Waking up once more without her lover, she would find herself on the middle of a ship in a storm. It seems the captain had no idea what he was doing, and he was trying to make his way back to land! Perhaps Katsumi could be of aid?

Task: You must navigate a ship through a storm to a port safely. This trial will test your use of your Musou moreso than previous ones. You will deal with several difficulties and obstacles, such as crazed pirates, rogue waves, and possibly other things. While casualties are allowed, you want to go for the minimal amount of casualties possible. If any enemies appear in this trial, their stats will be 40 across. Good luck.

Was this going to become a regular thing? Thank goodness she was transported with all of her shit and was able to put on her armor. Sadly, at this point, Katsumi felt rather used to being rained on. And with incompetent people needing help, although that was the case even before these trials with this god.

Up in the crows nest to see better (as she had the keenest eyes and apparently the most wit amongst the crew) and with her ability and ranged skills, Katsumi searched out as far as she could see. The storm was too intense to see a lighthouse, but from the map and coordinates, due south seemed to be the correct way to go. South-west. After having the captain turn the ship around, they were heading in what she believed to be the correct way, from what she judged with the map. Now it was a matter of searching for light eventually and protecting the ship.

"Continue forward, Captain!" exclaimed the woman.

The captain would turn the ship in accordance with Katsumi's orders, having a lack of wit himself. (How did he become a captain, I wonder?)

However, to the right of them, a large, rogue wave would be seen fast approaching! If something wasn't done quickly, it could potentially destroy the entire ship!

Upon catching sight of the rogue wave, Katsumi would create a powerful gust of wind to help quickly turn the ship so that it was facing the wave and go over it.

"Please don't kill us," muttered the woman. "I have Haji-kun to get back to..."

[Uesugi Kenshin]

Katsumi's turning of the ship would minimalize the damage it'd take as the rogue wave smashed down on them. A couple of the sailors would be floored, holding onto anything they could for dear life. Luckily, no one was flung overboard, all they lost was some precious cargo! The captain was clinging to the wheel, shivering and screaming about nearly dying.

It didn't look like any more waves were around, so it was up to Katsumi's direction to decide what to do next.

Using wind to help move the ship through the water faster, blowing it against the mast, she would redirect them towards the direction she believed to be correct because of the map and compass.

"Please, let's get there soon..."

[Uesugi Kenshin]

Despite increasing their speed, Katsumi's ship would find itself surrounded by two ships as if out of nowhere! Ropes with hooks would shoot out and latch themselves onto Katsumi's ships, and pirates began to board, intending to kill the sailors and take whatever cargo they could find!

There were ten in total planning to board, but not everyone had boarded yet, three made it on and the rest were in the process of boarding! Maybe if Katsumi acted quickly...

Katsumi had been watching out carefully but suddenly there were two ships beside this one, and her eyes widened.

"W-What the hell?!"

Damn these gods! Gritting her teeth, the woman focused and created wind sickles, slicing through the ropes on both sides, and creating gusts to push the ships away and in a different course. They would have to focus on turning around. She would finish them off later, but for now the pirates on the ship mattered most.

Being so far up gave the woman an advantage, and she would swiftly shoot at the pirates, using her musou to ensure she aimed correctly. If they were taken care of, Katsumi would narrow her eyes and create a powerful whirlwind further ahead so her own ship wasn't in danger, having winds bring the other ships towards it in order to wreck them.

"Get the hell out!"

The few pirates that made it onto the ship were wounded or killed! Those who didn't die would be finished off by Katsumi's crew! Her sickles slicing through the ropes would cause any pirates mid-travel to fall to their deaths in the sea below!

Her Musou would bring the ships very close to crashing into each other, but the enemy managed to avoid it in time with some careful steering! They were hot on the heels of Katsumi's own ship, and they began to fire their cannons at her ship in anger!
